Elmarie Neilson has decades of experience as an Attorney, and specialises in Matrimonial, Family and Maintenance Law and related litigation. Elmarie Neilson was admitted as an attorney on 09 February 1988.
She is also qualified to appear in the High Court the same as an advocate. This saves her clients legal fees as they don’t have to appoint an advocate as well.
Her practice also has extensive experience in Deceased Estates, Wills and Trusts and Collaborative Law.
Elmarie Neilson is a fully trained and qualified Mediator and Facilitator, providing mediation in divorces, commercial disputes and estate disputes.

Vanessa Thomas joined Neilsons Attorneys as a Candidate Attorney in 2013 and was admitted as an Attorney of the High Court in May 2018. Vanessa completed a National Diploma in Personnel Management at the former Cape Technikon, now known as the Cape Peninsula University of Technology, in 1993. She entered the international freight industry in 1994 and enjoyed 12 years in this fiercely competitive commercial field before choosing to be a stay-at-home mother to her children. Vanessa was involved in various charitable initiatives, especially those involving the elderly, during this time and also started studying towards her LLB. She successfully completed her studies in 2017 and was admitted as a Notary and Conveyancer in 2019.
Tom Blyth – Associate
Tom obtained his LLB from the University of Cape Town and was admitted to practice in 2006 and has the same right of appearance in the High Court as an Advocate.
Tom obtained a wealth of experience in the practice of Civil Litigation whilst working within a range of diverse Law Firms in Cape Town. For the past several years Tom has specialized in the practice of Matrimonial, Family Law, Maintenance Law and related litigation.
Tom is a FAMAC accredited Family Law Mediator and Facilitator (FAMAC). Tom is also an accredited Collaborative Lawyer (National Association of Collaborative Professionals) and experienced Lay Counsellor and Facilitator (Lifeline).
Tom is an avid swimmer and runner.
